Greater Eastern is the sequel to our top selling route Great Eastern.
It features the line from Ipswich on to Norwich, including Crown Point Depot.
We have moved the era slightly forward to a generic period set in the early/mid 2000's and feature 'Anglia' and 'one' rolling stock.
Rolling Stock
The the stock list features most of your favorites from GE and increases with the addition of an all new Class 153, an improved Class 156, our new Class 170 and the Class 360 EMU.
Our MK2 coaches have been heavily reworked and vastly improved, taking the improvements already made for SCE plus the addition of entirely new body shapes and increased detail levels all round.
The route will also include the very popular MK3's, and a brand new matching Making Tracks DVT and Class 90 Loco.
We will also include a new high detail Class 315 EMU, 317 EMU, 150 DMU. These models are all vastly improved on the previous versions from Making Tracks.
On the freight side, Class 66's and 57's feature strongly alone with appropriate wagons for the approximate era we are representing.
Greater Eastern links with our original Great Eastern route allowing the entire run from London Liverpool Street to Norwich.
Many areas of the original GE route have been upgraded to bring them up to the current standard of GE2.
Road vehicles for the car spawner have been given a severe reworking with many new high detail modern vehicles being supplied.
Era Changing, Greater Eastern will also features an option to change the era of the route between several different periods.
We give the option to change between BR, NSE and Anglia brands for the route.
The era changer changes the extent of the electrified area and the station decoration. No track layout change/signalling changes are made. These changes would break existing activities and paths / services, which would create a support "nightmare".
Currently the road vehicles will not be updated, mainly due to not have access to useable photos of period vehicles.
The era changer is probably not going to satisfy everyone's requirements for running other period stock, but given the restrictions imposed, (both by time and supportability) we feel it is a reasonable compromise.
The era changer is supplied as a download from the MT site.
Compatibility
Making Tracks have decided that we will from the release of Greater Eastern, only support the use of MSTSBin.![]()
Due to the amount of detail we put into our products now, many non MSTSBin installations will fail to run activities without crashing. We have only tested on MSTSBin equiped test machines so cannot guarantee it will work on anything else.
We can't think of one good reason not to have MSTSBin, and with the use of mini routes to create route specific installations there is even less reason !
We will provide easy to install and use instructions on how to install MSTSBin if required.
For more information on MSTSBin, please see the MT MSTSBin page
Available now from the MT shop
